Caramel Apple Dipping Station

Looking for an amazing and healthy dessert for your Thanksgiving celebrations?  I have the answer!

It’s the time of the year where we make sure to have the perfect juicy turkey, grandma’s incredible stuffing recipe, and space in the oven for our famous green bean casserole.

What about dessert?

I have a little bit of bad news to share, store-bought pumpkin, apple or pecan pies can have upwards of 400 calories, 20 grams of fat, and 57 grams of carbs! Just a quick comparison, this is pretty close to the calorie count in a hamburger kids meal!

What to do? We have to reserve space in our oven for our casseroles and the beloved turkey, and a fruit salad is boring and non-impressive.

I have the solution!

Impress your guest with an amazing caramel and dark chocolate apple dipping station. This station looks amazing, but is also just as easy to set up.

We take advantage of the gorgeous and healthy fall fruit, the apple. One medium apple is only 80 calories and 5 grams of fiber. Slice our apples and dip in lemon juice to prevent from browning.

For the ‘dips,’ purchase caramel dip and dark chocolate chips. Melt the dark chocolate in 30 second increments for dipping purposes.

Utilizing a muffin pan for our toppings, line with decorative muffin tins and fill with a combination of healthy goodies and a few sweet treats. Examples of toppings include various crushed nuts, mini dark chocolate chips, coconut flakes, and 1-2 crushed candies.

Instruct your guest to ‘dip’ and ‘top’ apples and have empty muffin tins for guest to place their fun creations!

To save calories, dip only 1/4 of the apple in the caramel or dark chocolate and sprinkle with toppings. Each slice would yield approximately 35-55 calories in comparison to our apple pie of 400 calories!

Enjoy!
