Skinny Sloppy Joe Sliders

Two secret ingredients make these low-net carb Sloppy Joe's a huge hit with the entire family!

This recipe is great to pull together during the week, and with 2 secret ingredients this recipe transforms into a weight loss, diabetic friendly winner!

How is this recipe Skinny Louisiana approved? We saved calories and fat without sacrificing flavor by using lean ground beef. Lets reveal our TWO secret ingredients - cabbage and slider buns! We LOVE using cabbage in the Skinny Louisiana kitchen. Why? Cabbage last longer than both spinach and lettuce (cabbage last up to 3 weeks!), and often is a cheaper buy than both spinach and lettuce. We went with 2 easy ways to lower carbs - first (and as seen in the picture) we used a slider bun. Smaller serving = automatic lower carbs. The second choice is what all the Skinny Louisiana clients use - Mission Carb Balance Wraps!  Our Mission Carb Balance Wraps yield only 4 net carbs!  Winner winner, sloppy joe dinner!

  • 1 lb. lean (90/10) ground beef
  • 1 small red onion, chopped
  • 1 can (15 oz.) of tomato sauce, no salt added
  • 1 tsp. Paul Prudhomme Magic Seasoning Blend
  • 1/2 cabbage, chopped
  • Whole Wheat Sliders (look for 15 grams of carbs or less) or Mission Carb Balance Wraps

Step 1: Place large skillet over medium heat. Add beef and onion. Cook 6-8 minutes or until beef is no longer pink.

Step 2: Add tomato sauce. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer. Cook uncovered 8-10 minutes.

Step 3: Layer meat mixture on sliders or Mission Carb Balance Wrap. Top with cabbage. Serve.
