Ninja Creami Frozen Yogurt made with 4 ingredients.

Ya’ll, if you’ve been scrolling Instagram or TikTok lately, you already know the Ninja Creami is having a MOMENT. And honey, down here in South Louisiana where it’s hot nine months out of the year, I’m always looking for a cool treat that won’t spike my blood sugar or undo all my hard work. That’s why this Ninja Creami frozen yogurt recipe has become my go-to.

This isn’t just another dessert recipe. As a registered dietitian who’s been helping folks (especially my fellow Louisianans) manage diabetes and lose weight for over 20 years, I created this recipe to give you something creamy, protein-packed, and diabetic-friendly — without all the junk.

Here’s why you’re gonna love it:

  • ✅ Only 4 simple ingredients
  • ✅ Ready in minutes (with overnight freezing)
  • ✅ Packed with protein from Greek yogurt
  • ✅ Customizable to your taste buds
  • ✅ Perfect for hot Louisiana afternoons

Let me show you how to make the best frozen yogurt of your life — Louisiana dietitian approved.

Ninja Creami Frozen Yogurt perfect for diabetics

Why You’ll Love This Ninja Creami Frozen Yogurt

Listen, I’ve tested A LOT of frozen yogurt recipes in my kitchen, and this one is the winner. Here’s why:

  • Low in carbs compared to store-bought frozen yogurt
  • High in protein (thanks to that Greek yogurt!)
  • Diabetic-friendly when made with minimal sweetener
  • No fancy ingredients — everything’s at the supermarket

And the best part? It tastes like the soft-serve from your favorite frozen yogurt shop — but without the sugar crash afterward.

Ya’ll Know I Love Some Greek Yogurt!

Greek yogurt is one of my favorite foods to recommend in my nutrition counseling practice. It’s a powerhouse — high in protein, full of probiotics for gut health, and SO versatile.

In fact, my Skinny Louisiana…in the Kitchen cookbooks feature Greek yogurt in dips, dressings, and creamy Cajun-inspired sauces

Add Dairy to Your Grocery List Today

Add dairy to your grocery list today. Pick up some milk, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and cheese today. Dairy plays a vital role in a balanced diet — make sure to add it to your shopping cart.

Dairy provides essential nutrients like calcium, vitamin D, potassium, and high-quality protein that support bone health, muscle recovery, and blood sugar stability.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Here’s your simple grocery list:

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (2% to full fat) — or use flavored yogurt for a shortcut
  • 1–2 tablespoons allulose (or sweetener of choice)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon milk (2% to whole) — for re-spinning if needed

Is Ninja Creami Frozen Yogurt Healthy? (You Bet It Is)

As a registered dietitian, let me break down why this recipe is a winner for your body:

Greek Yogurt — The star of the show.

  • 15–20g protein per cup (helps you stay full longer)
  • Contains probiotics that support gut health and immunity
  • Rich in calcium for strong bones
  • Low in lactose (easier on sensitive stomachs)
  • Helps stabilize blood sugar when paired with carbs
  • Supports muscle maintenance — especially important for women over 40

Milk — The smoothing agent.

  • Adds protein and creaminess
  • Provides calcium, vitamin D, and B12
  • Helps the texture stay scoopable
  • A dairy staple in every healthy kitchen

How to Make Ninja Creami Frozen Yogurt (Step-by-Step)

Here’s how easy this is, ya’ll:

  1. Combine the ingredients. In your Ninja Creami container, mix the Greek yogurt, allulose, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Freeze overnight. Place the container in the freezer for at least 24 hours. Don’t skip this — it makes ALL the difference.
  3. Spin it up. Pop the container into your Ninja Creami and select the “Lite Ice Cream” setting.
  4. Re-spin if needed. If the texture is crumbly, add 1 tablespoon of milk and run a re-spin cycle.
  5. Serve and enjoy! Top with fresh berries, nuts, or a drizzle of nut butter.

Dietitian Corner: Blood Sugar + Weight Loss Tips

As a dietitian who specializes in diabetes, weight loss, and women’s health, here’s what I want you to know about this recipe:

  • Glycemic Load: This frozen yogurt has a LOW glycemic load when made with allulose, making it safe for most folks managing blood sugar
  • Protein Pairing: The 15–20g of protein from Greek yogurt slows glucose absorption — meaning no blood sugar spike
  • Fiber Strategy: Top with berries, chia seeds, or flax to add fiber and slow digestion even more
  • Hormone Health for Women Over 40: The high protein content supports muscle mass and metabolism, which naturally decline with age
  • Weight Loss Friendly: At roughly 15g+ protein per serving, this fits beautifully into a calorie-controlled plan

What to Serve With Your Ninja Creami Frozen Yogurt

Make it a treat moment with these pairings:

  • Fresh Louisiana strawberries or blueberries
  • A sprinkle of chopped pecans (we grow ’em right here!)
  • A drizzle of natural peanut or almond butter
  • A few dark chocolate chips (70% or higher)
  • Crushed sugar-free granola

Storage + Make Ahead Tips

  • Freezer life: Best enjoyed fresh after spinning, but you can keep the frozen base in the Creami container for up to 1 week
  • Re-spin: If it gets too hard, add 1 tablespoon of milk and re-spin
  • Not fridge-friendly: This will melt — keep it frozen!
  • Make ahead: Prep multiple containers on Sunday for the whole week

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Not freezing long enough — 24 hours minimum, ya’ll
  • Using non-fat Greek yogurt — full fat or 2% gives the creamiest result
  • Adding too much liquid — start with the recipe as written
  • Skipping the re-spin — if it’s crumbly, that 1 tbsp of milk is the secret

Frequently Asked Questions.

Is this Ninja Creami frozen yogurt really diabetic-friendly?

Yes! As a registered dietitian who works with diabetic clients every single day, I designed this recipe specifically with blood sugar in mind. When made with allulose, this frozen yogurt has zero added sugar and minimal impact on blood glucose. The natural sugars from the Greek yogurt are paired with 17 grams of protein, which slows digestion and prevents the spike-and-crash you get from traditional ice cream.

How much protein is in this frozen yogurt?

About 17 grams of protein per serving — which is more protein than two large eggs! That’s because Greek yogurt is naturally strained, which removes the watery whey and concentrates the protein. A regular cup of ice cream typically has only 2 to 5 grams of protein, so this recipe gives you 3 to 4 times more protein than store-bought frozen treats.

Is allulose really safe for diabetics?

Yes! Allulose has been extensively studied and is considered one of the safest sweeteners for diabetics. It’s a “rare sugar” that occurs naturally in figs, raisins, and maple syrup. Your body absorbs it but doesn’t metabolize it the same way as regular sugar, so it has virtually no impact on blood glucose or insulin levels.

What’s the best Greek yogurt for diabetics to use in this recipe?

Stick with plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt — full fat (5%) or 2% are my top picks. Always read the label and aim for less than 5 grams of sugar per serving and at least 12 grams of protein.

Can I make this if I’m on a GLP-1 medication like Ozempic or Monjaro?

Yes, and it’s actually a great option for you! High-protein, low-sugar foods like this one help you stick to your protein goals while on GLP-1 medications, which is critical for preserving muscle mass during weight loss. Many of my GLP-1 clients struggle to hit their protein numbers because their appetite is suppressed. A single serving of this gives you 17 grams of protein in a small, easy-to-eat portion — perfect for those days when nothing sounds appetizing.

How often can I eat this as a diabetic?

Honey, you could eat this daily if you wanted to! Because of the high protein, zero added sugar (with allulose), and moderate calorie count, this fits beautifully into a diabetic meal plan. I have clients who enjoy this as an afternoon snack, evening dessert, or even a high-protein breakfast topped with berries and nuts. Just make sure it’s part of a balanced day that includes plenty of non-starchy vegetables, lean protein, and healthy fats.

Why do I have to freeze the Ninja Creami container for 24 hours?

I know, I know — waiting is the hardest part! But trust me on this one! The Ninja Creami needs the base to be ROCK solid (we’re talking solid all the way through) for the spinning blade to shave it into that creamy, ice-cream-like texture. Set it before bed the night before, and by tomorrow afternoon you’ll have the perfect treat ready to spin. Patience pays off!

My Ninja Creami frozen yogurt came out crumbly — what did I do wrong?

Don’t panic! This is the #1 issue folks run into, and it’s an easy fix. Crumbly texture usually means the base was either too cold or too dry. Just add 1 tablespoon of milk (whole or 2% works best) and hit the “Re-Spin” button.

What flavors can I add to this base recipe?

Oh honey, the sky’s the limit! Here are some of my favorite Louisiana-inspired and dietitian-approved variations:
Strawberry: Add ½ cup mashed fresh strawberries before freezing
Pralines & Cream: Stir in 2 tablespoons chopped pecans after spinning
Coffee: Mix in 1 teaspoon instant espresso powder
Lemon: Stir in 1 teaspoon lemon zest and ½ teaspoon lemon juice
Fig: Stir in 2 tablespoons mashed fresh figs (in season!) after spinning

Can my kids eat this?

Absolutely! This is one of my favorite dietitian-approved desserts for kids because it’s high in protein and calcium for growing bodies, and you control the sugar content. For kids, I usually use 1 tablespoon of honey instead of allulose (allulose is safe for children, but honey adds nice flavor and isn’t excessive). Top with fresh berries and a sprinkle of mini chocolate chips and they’ll think they hit the jackpot. My taste-testers approved!

Is this recipe gluten-free?

Yes! As long as your Greek yogurt and vanilla extract are certified gluten-free (most are), this recipe is completely gluten-free. Just double-check labels if you have celiac disease or severe gluten sensitivity. Allulose is naturally gluten-free as well.

How long does Ninja Creami frozen yogurt last?

Best enjoyed immediately after spinning! But if you have leftovers, you can press the frozen yogurt back into the Creami container, cover, and refreeze for up to 1 week. When you’re ready to enjoy again, just re-spin (you may need to add a tablespoon of milk

Is this recipe good for weight loss?

Yes — and it’s one of my favorites to recommend! Here’s why it works for weight loss:
High protein (17g) keeps you full for hours
Low calorie (around 140 calories per serving)
Zero added sugar means no insulin spike or crash
Satisfies sweet cravings without derailing your goals
Easy to portion control (one container = one serving)

I always tell my weight loss clients: the best “diet” food is one that doesn’t FEEL like diet food. This frozen yogurt scratches the dessert itch without all the calories and sugar that lead to overeating later.

Can I eat this on a low-carb or keto diet?

Yes! With allulose as the sweetener, this recipe fits beautifully into low-carb and keto plans. The natural carbs come from the lactose in Greek yogurt (about 8g per cup), and allulose is excluded from net carb counts.

Ninja Creami Troubleshooting: Common Problems & Fixes

Ya’ll, even with the best recipe, the Ninja Creami can have a learning curve. Here are the most common issues I hear from my readers — and exactly how to fix ’em.

Problem #1: My frozen yogurt came out crumbly and powdery

This is the most common Ninja Creami complaint, and it’s an easy fix. Crumbly texture means the base is too dry or too cold. Here’s what to do:

  • Add 1 tablespoon of milk to the container
  • Press the “Re-Spin” button
  • If still crumbly, add another teaspoon of milk and re-spin again

Problem #2: My frozen yogurt is soupy or melted

If it spins into a soup, your base wasn’t frozen long enough. The container needs to be SOLID — no soft spots in the middle.

Problem #3: There’s a hole in the middle after spinning

This is totally normal! That hole is from the spinning blade. It doesn’t mean anything went wrong — just scoop around it and enjoy.
